We need to draw attention to the need for national and international policies to regulate initiatives that stand to alter the human genome. This doesn’t necessarily mean banning or restricting science, especially medical science, but that activities touching especially germline alterations should be subjected to public discourse, before commercial interests run roughshod over the sanctity of what belongs to the collective “we,” the anatomical integrity of the human species.
